213 - millelacswal

The DNR is asking for public input tonight in Aitkin on how to manage the harvest on the 2nd largest lake in Minnesota.

Mille Lacs Lake is no stranger to polarizing circumstances.   Gill netting, zebra mussels and varying management strategies have given many a reason to voice their opinion on what should happen.

During a recent stay at Fisherman’s Wharf, talk inside the restaurant/bar centered on an upcoming meeting between the DNR and the public, and what the outcome may be.

Rumors of cutting the daily bag limit in half, going to barbless hooks and eliminating live bait were all thrown out as possibilities.  The meeting takes place tonight at the Hazleton Town Hall, located at 24248 US 169 in Aitkin.

I plan on being in attendance tonight to see what the DNR has to say and what ideas the public will offer.   If you’re in the area, you’re encouraged to attend.
