SJR | Week 664: Fishing the 50 Yard Line

May 29, 2025

1–2 minutes

On this week’s podcast Bret Amundson and Dan Amundson are back in studio, but play back a few more conversations from last week’s trip to Devils Lake. Bret talks to Steve “Zippy” Dahl and Aaron McQuoid (yes, he’s part of THAT McQuoid family – Quite the fishing blood they have!) about the historic flooding Devils Lake once experienced and how that’s made it a unique fishery, including being able to go fishing on the 50 yard line of a football field in a boat. Literally. Then we join Garrett Bonham from Bry’s Guide Service and Ed’s Bait Shop in the boat, and he talks about current conditions on Devils Lake and his strategy for fishing right now. Joe Henry talks about what he learned with his meetings with stakeholders at Lake of the Woods, including more conversations with Canada Border Services Agency.
