Dan Amundson spent some time on the ice in northern Minnesota between shoots for Prairie Sportsman. He was on a catch and cook mission for perch and walleye:

Perch aren’t just for the Dakotas! Dan Amundson joined Jon Krumsieg in Northern Minnesota and use bigger baits and Forward Facing Sonar to cherry-pick eater perch out of deeper basins. Ice fishing for perch is something that North Dakota and South Dakota get all of the credit for, but Minnesota has some fantastic opportunities for fun perch fishing as well, especially when looking for a fish fry. Off course this isn’t a foolproof method to only get eater-sized fish to bite. You might have small fish come in and bite. But using big profile baits definitely reduces the likelihood of that happening. And if you find yourself in a school of small fish, it’s time to move! #icefishing #perch
