On the Rainy River, mornings and evenings best. Depths of 18-22 feet. Anchoring and jigging effective. Those that drifted also caught some northern pike and smallmouth bass. Gold or green jigs best tipped with minnow or frozen shiner.
Up at the NW Angle, fish were found in 18-20 or 25-30 feet. Island points south of Oak Island and current areas held good numbers. Anchoring with jigs or drifting with spinners produced numbers of walleyes and jumbo perch. Crappies are still deep in 28-32 feet of water in Ontario waters.
